Access to adequate housing is a universal right and a place where we can meet our basic needs.
Urgency drives us, and in order to overcome poverty, we develop projects that improve families’ housing and living conditions, aiming to enhance quality of life and strengthen capabilities.
Access to adequate housing is a universal right and a place where we can meet our basic needs.
Our main project is to bring families closer to dignified housing. We seek to respond to the housing deficit caused by poverty or by environmental crises that affect thousands of people.
Emergency housing units are prefabricated in wood, which allows them to be built in a short period of time. They are built by the families who receive the house together with a group of volunteers.

Permanent housing provides families with a high housing standard.
With this type of housing, we seek thermal, visual, and spatial comfort. Its structure ensures resistance to strong winds, earthquakes, and other external factors. The materials used may include wood, concrete, steel, or a combination of these.
It is progressive, flexible, and accessible for families living in informal settlements.
Progressive housing offers an evolving solution, giving families the possibility to expand and improve their homes, integrating different services according to their needs.

TECHO has its own research center
The Social Research Center (CIS in spanish) seeks to collect and process all the information and data we encounter daily in informal settlements, in order to improve families’ living conditions.
The SRC aims to gather data and produce information to analytically understand what is happening in informal settlements and how we can transform these realities.
We are based on building a connection between volunteers and the community, who work together to generate concrete solutions that improve the community’s living conditions and become transformative actors within the territory they inhabit.
