What happened on September 19th and 20th, 2022?

  • On September 19, Hurricane Fiona arrived in the Dominican Republic, being the first to enter Dominican territory in 18 years. After its passage, different provinces of the Eastern Region were declared a disaster zone, highlighting its impact on La Altagracia, El Seibo, Hato Mayor, San Pedro de Macorís and Samaná.
  • The passage of Hurricane Fiona through the Eastern Region resulted in the displacement of more than 13,070 people to 38 shelters, as well as a total of 2,614 affected homes, 457 partially affected and 4 destroyed, among the data recorded to date.
